District Governor Neil McBeth
2009 - 2010

A member of the Rotary Club of Essex since 1985, Neil served as Essex Rotary Club President in RIP Hugh Archer’s “Enjoy Rotary” year in 1989. Neil continues to serve his Rotary Club as Treasurer, RI Foundation Chair, Rotary Club of Essex Foundation Fund Chair and Club Historian. Three times he has been honoured as the Essex Rotarian of the Year.

He has served several District 6400 Committees including, Chair Youth Exchange, Group Study Exchange, Foundation, Membership, Strategic Planning and several District Conference Committees. Neil was a GSE Team Leader to Finland District 1410 in 1995. He served as Governor’s Representative for 2 years and as an Assistant Governor for 3 years. He was honoured by the District in 1998-99 as a recipient of one of the District’s first COG Awards.

Neil retired in 2007 after 33 years as high school educator, coach and sport administrator with the Greater Essex County District School Board.

Married to Cheryl in 1975, they continue to operate McBeth Farms, a 3rd generation, and century old family farming enterprise. Neil and Cheryl are both founding members of the Paul Harris Society and Bequest Society members. They are Level II Major Rotary Foundation Donors.


They are extremely proud of their three adult married sons Robert, Kevin and David who have added three wonderful daughters to our family. Our pride and joy is our first granddaughter, Caitlyn.

Support the continued implementation of the District 6400 Strategic Plan.

Have Fun through Fellowship - The Family of Rotary is mosr important to the long term health of Rotary. Emphasis will be placed on District Wide Fellowship events that involve the Family of Rotary.

Continued efforts on Water and Sanitation, Health and Hunger and Literacy initiatives will be the focus as we continie "Basic Needs Projects" in our communitites and the International Communitites. Major emphasis will be placd on Africa to help in eliminating Poliomyetlits.

Support of Membership Development both of new and existing members as well as new clubs.

Host a successful DISCON where we will celebrate the Club Project successes.

Increase Rotary Foundation giving with 100% participation of all clubs and all club members in EREY.

Encourage continued participation in joint activities and "Area" driven projects.

Create an active Alumni Association in the District with emphasis on bringing Alumni into Rotary.
