: Global Scholars Future Vision Information for Year 2011 - 2012
The Future Vision Pilot District sponsors two scholarship categories -- World Peace Scholar and Global Scholar. Each category requires that the applicant have a bachelors degree and be able to be admitted as a graduate student at the university chosen for study. The Peace Scholar program is funded (100%) by The Rotary Foundation (TRF). Rotarian Fred Pearson is the committee chair for this program.
The second category is the Global Scholar. The Global Scholar Program is funded by the Global District Designated Fund (50%) and by TRF (50%) The Global Scholar Program is for the graduate student who desires to study in any of the 99 Future Vision Pilot Districts in one of the six Rotary International focus areas. The areas are the following:
- Peace and Conflict Prevention/ resolution
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Water and Sanitation
- Maternal and Child Health
- Basic Education and Literacy
- Economic and Community Development
The Global Scholar applicant is to develop the following:
- Create a project with sustainable outcomes with input from the community to be served on needs, goals and projected outcomes.
- Work with a sponsoring Rotarian in District 6400 for guidance in creating the proposal and submission process.
- Develop a proposal using the proposal format found at www.rotary.org which can be obtained from the sponsoring Rotarian. (Only the Sponsoring Rotarian can access the proposal form at www.rotary.org)
- Click member access at the top of the page. If sponsoring Rotarian is not registered, click register and follow the directions. Log in and click Future Vision Pilot site in the right hand column. Click Global Grant. Follow directions given under proposal format.
- After TRF proposal approval, Rotary sponsor and applicant submit completed application and proposal to Scholars Committee by October 1, 2010.
- Committee interviews for TRF approved proposals held for both the sponsor and applicant between October 11 and November 11.
- Committee submits recommendations to Program Chair. Program Chair presents recommendations of the Global Scholar Committee to the District Rotary Foundation Committee for approval. District Rotary Foundation Committee votes to allocate or not to allocate DDF money to the scholar.
- Global Scholar Committee notifies the sponsoring Rotarian and applicant of the District Rotary Foundation Committee’s decision by December 14th.
Our district can receive from another pilot district a scholar who is funded by a district grant or global grant. Also our district can receive from a nonpilot district a Scholar funded under Ambassadorial Scholarship.
