Surviving the Cold, as Homeless...
The Trenton High School Interact Club was trying to survive the cold and understand the plight of those less fortunate than themselves during the 2010 Jingle Drive. Bruce Jocks would like to thank all the Rotarian Chaperones and Interact participants. He also has a special thank you for John Martenson and Michael (Landscaper) McNally. They donated all the wood needed to keep the fires burning through the night. They did help St. Vincent de Paul, Christnet, Toys for Tots and the Trenton Food Pantry. A big thanks goes out to the Acee Ducee Porta John Company for their donation to the project.

DG Kim with Trenton Rotarians

DG Kim and President Lynn Nolan

On Saturday May 21st, the City of Trenton and the Trenton Rotary Club planted 23 more trees into public spaces, bringing the total number of trees planted to over 300 in the last five years. Funding for the trees has come from Rotary District 6400 Simplified Grants and the Trenton Rotary Club and donations from the DTE Energy Foundation. 15 different varieties of trees were planted this time in an attempt to provide sustainability and prevent a single disease or type of insect from destroying so many of these trees. The Trenton Rotary Club also prefers to plant more mature trees, so the community gets a quicker return. Trees planted in 2005 all ready are 10-15 feet high and starting to provide shade and nesting spots for birds. Rotary is proud of its contribution to the Community of Trenton and also thanks Rotary District 6400 for its grant support.
