Livonia Rotary's Holiday Luncheon was held on December 5th at Laurel Manor. The Churchill High School Chorus sang Christmas Songs and Rotarian Christina Rearick's nephew, Marine Cpl Aaron Toth was there to collect Toys For Tots donations from our members.

Livonia Rotary Club

The Livonia Rotary Club recently invited two students from each high school, Stevenson, Churchill, Franklin and Ladywood to participate in Leadership month. The students were selected by the Activities Director in each school, Julie Harb at Stevenson, Jenniefer Esparza at Franklin, Karla Halvangis at Churchill and James Duffin at Ladywood (National Honor Society Moderator). The students came to the Livonia Rotary Club meeting for three weeks in March so that they could learn about Rotary, see how the club meeting was conducted, and then run the Livonia Rotary Club meeting during their last visit. The students took the roles of president, Sgt. of Arms, Invocation, welcoming visitors and guests, song leader, greeter, and together were the program, presenting their schools community efforts. The last day, the Activities Directors were invited to the Club meeting and to participate in the Leadership that their students provided the Club.

Donations EventOn Monday, January 24, 2011 the Rotary Charitable Foundation and the Rotary Club of Livonia gave almost $15,000.00 to various community and international organizations at their 2011 Foundation Donation Night.  On hand to receive monies were representatives from First Step, Madonna University, Schoolcraft College, the Franklin Interact Club for their Relay for Life activity, the Foresters on behalf of Children’s Miracle Network, The Detroit Reading Initiative, The Livonia Family YMCA, Livonia Public Schools will receive books for the Livonia Rotary Club Reading Program and two checks were presented to Rotary District 6400 District Governor Kim Towar for Polio Eradication and the Rotary International Foundation.  Each recipient was presented their check and then gave a brief overview of their organization and what they will do with the funds.  The event was well attended and considered a rousing success.  The next fundraising event for the club will be the Reverse Raffle on Monday, May 9, 2011 at the Livonia Embassy Suites.  Please contact any Rotarian for additional information and tickets.
