The Rotary Club of Dearborn
The president of the Rotary Club of Dearborn for 2011-2012 is John Artis. John is a retired school superintendent, college professor, and consultant, and he has been a Rotarian for 19 years. The Dearborn Club meets Thursdays at 11:30am at the Fairlane Club in Dearborn. They currently have approximately 77 members. The Plymouth Rotary Club has a firm commitment to international literacy initiatives. The most recent project they completed was in partnership with a Brazilian Rotary club, whereby they opened up a computer lab for enhanced literacy and technological usage by the students of the area. They have also participated for some time with the Children of the Dump projects in Nicaragua, providing help with water projects, creation of a financially lucrative business, and computer lab installation for the children of the area. Their largest fundraiser is the Santa Snaps project. They run this activity in cooperation with the Wayne County Parks and Recreation and provide Meet Santa pictures for 22 days from Thanksgiving to Christmas eve. They generally generate a gross profit of over $20,000. This funding is used to support their local Rotary Foundation, local scholarships, and support for needy families. Need to do a make-up?
