Lindemann, Arno, Bennie Elementary Schools
The 3rd Annual Toy Collection for the Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry.
Students from Lindemann Elementary School, Arno Elementary School, Bennie Elementary School and Allen Park High School brought new and gently used toys to their individual schools during the week of November 15-19.
In a period of one week, Allen Park students donated nearly 2,500 stuffed animals, toys, games and books to be given to children of parents who qualified for assistance from the Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry. The school children had genuinely warm feelings about donating items at their school that would be given to children who were in need.
Allen Park Rotarians collected all donated items at each of the schools on November 23 and delivered them to the Fish & Loaves location. On Friday, November 26 Rotarians from Allen Park met at the Fish & Loaves pantry to sort all collected items and to stock the shelves with the many toys, games and books. Rotary family members participated along with the staff from Fish & Loaves and Interact students from Allen Park High School and Dearborn Heights. Watching young children and teenagers working along with their parents, Rotarians, community members and staff from the Fish & Loaves Community Food Pantry created a festive environment among the volunteers as well as a feeling of true holiday spirit.
When parents come in to “shop” for food, they can also “shop” for presents for their children for Christmas. Collected items are distributed to approximately 1,000 families during the month of December. Allen Park Rotary Club - Ramp Project
The Rotary Club of Allen Park received a request from the Ploucha family to build a ramp at in Allen Park. Information regarding the recipient of the ramp is as follows: Debbie Ploucha, Widow, Recently fell and broke two bones in her right leg, Had surgery to insert a rod and two plates in her leg, Currently in rehabilitation at Heritage Hospital in Taylor, Upon her return home, she cannot put any weight on her leg for 10 weeks.

Allen Park Rotarian Joseph Turinsky (builder) agreed to chair and supervise this project. The ramp was completed on November 26th in time for Debbie Ploucha’s return from the hospital. Funds to support this project were donated by the (1) Rotary Club of Allen Park, (2) Fairlane Sunrise Rotary Club, (3) Allen Park Kiwanis, (4) Allen Park Knights of Columbus, (5) Allen Park American Legion and (6) Allen Park Elks.

Interact Club - 2010
Is this the Largest Interact Club in the World?
The Interact Club at Allen Park High School (APHS), Michigan, USA (District 6400) was reactivated in September 2006 after being inactive for two years. There were 26 Interact club members in 2006 and the membership has steadily grown to a total of 550 current members in 2010. The APHS Interact club actively participates in numerous projects (1) at the high school, (2) in the Allen Park community, (3) throughout the region and (4) internationally.
The Allen Park High School Interact Club received a Rotary Presidential Citation at the Rotary District 6400 Conference in 2010. The APHS Interact club sponsor is Allen Park High School teacher Donald Csont. Mr. Csont is also an Honorary Rotarian and a Paul Harris Fellow.
