Southgate Rotary - 10th Meet the DGE

The Southgate Rotary Club held its annual Meet the District Governor-Elect at the Southgate Holiday Inn. Southgate Rotary Club
President Mark Sharkey welcomed over 75 Rotarians from 16 Rotary Clubs and guests.

Rotarian Lori Adams led all in the Canadian and United States National Anthems. President-Elect Charles Zammit delivered the Invocation.
Rotary Don Treadwell led the toasts to the Queen and the President.

After plenty of delicious food - including dessert, a special presentation was made to along time Southgate Rotarian, John Lucher.
Steve Ahles gave the award to John Lucher (YMCA Director) who is transferring to the Saginaw YMCA. 

Several club presidents announced future events of their Rotary Clubs.

Rotarian Ron Wiens then introduced District Governor Nominee Nominee and Assistant Governor Elect Donna Schmidt.
Donna then gave a very enthusiastic introduction of DGE Michael Duben. 

Michael talked about his introduction to Rotary through a Group Study Exchange Team to Africa, his passion for Rotary International Projects - especially in many countries in Africa. He ended his speech by telling some of his and the District 6400 senior leadership goals - Having a Training Committee, 75% EREY participation, combined Rotary Club Official Visits, every Rotary Club have at least one hands-on project - either community or international.

The meeting concluded by having DGE Michael induct two members Tammy Burgess and Tony DiCarlo into Rotary and DG Kim pinning the Rotarians.
