Monroe Rotary Club - Breakfast with Santa
The Monroe Rotary Club with the assistance of Monroe High School and St. Mary's Catholic Central Interacters held their 10th Annual Breakfast of Santa at a local elementary school.
This sensational community program had juice, toast, eggs and sausage breakfast for all. This was followed by face and hand painting plus arts/ crafts projects led by the interacters.
There was a lots of toy gifts for all the children which included three bicycles. Santa Claus was there to greet and talk with everyone plus the children had a opportunity to get a photo with him.
Perhaps the thing that thrills me the most when it comes to Breakfast with Santa is the amount of participation we get from our own Rotarians plus the tremendous turnout of Interact students from SMCC and Monroe High.
Thanks to everyone who was there to help prepare breakfast, serve breakfast and be there when someone was needed.
Specials tips of the Rotary fedora go to Michael Thomas (who arranged for nearly all of the great toys that children took home with them on Saturday), Patty Thompson (who once again did a tremendous job in planning and directing the craft and face-painting activity), former member Joe Bellino (who does a great job as our Santa), Club President Don Lieto (who handled our toy distribution by calling out ticket number after number), Nancy Colpaert (who once again manned our registration table), Ram Nair (who also once again took photos of the more than 100 kids who took the opportunity to visit Santa), former District Governor Jim Karolyi (who was there again to take lots and lots of pictures which I know we will see soon in the District 6400 report) and Ray Lauwers (who is the SMCC Interact advisor and is there to help in many ways).
School Principals Ryan Starr and Julie Everly are great to work with and, needless to say, we can't forget Kathy Mink who donates her Saturday morning and does so much every year in the kitchen to make sure our breakfast is perfect.
Again, congratulations to our Monroe Rotary Club and thanks to everyone who helped both Friday night to set up and then Saturday morning.
Yours in Rotary, Dave Bagnall
