Central States Rotary Youth Exchange

The 2009 Central States Youth Exchange Conference was held at Calvin College from July 8th to July 12th. 17 students from District 6400 were prepared for their outbound mission for the next year. Youth Exchange Committee members received training or helped with training for students and parents. Rotarians in attendance at the conference were DG Neil & Cheryl Mcbeth, Sue and IPDG Bruce Goldsen, Jeannie Knopfe-Deroche, Phyllis and Paul Charbonneau, Sue & John Kowalski, PDG Roberto and Sylvia Sanchez, Bev and Ralph Cyr and this Rotary Reporter.
The conference featured District 6400 Ambassordorial Scholar Hannah Kelley talking about life after Youth Exchange and also featured Rotary International President John Kenny from Scotland.   John gave a great speech to the Students, also about how the future of Rotary is in their hands as well.
We also had a welcome back ceremony for 5 of our returning outbounds and 10 of our inbound students also helped with the training. Thanks to everyone who attended or helped with the training. We are a tired bunch of Rotarians, but very proud of our youth exchange students.
