Trenton Rotary - Boat Races Saturday June 21, the Trenton Rotary held the first of two days of racing events. The day led off with setup and the Troop 1721 Boy Scout Pancake Breakfast which helps them fund raise over $2000 annually. Junior racing began at 10:30. The Trenton Rotary was helped by members of the Grosse Ile, Lincoln Park, Woodhaven along with volunteers from the community and on Saturday the efforts of inbound, outbound and rebound exchange students who volunteered to sell T-Shirts, Pizza, Sandwiches and Sodas, or sing their national anthem. Val Wortley blew away the crowd with her a cappella version of the Canadian Nathional Anthem. Trenton Rotarians experience their biggest events of the year on these weekends. Racing featured a few accidents that extended the racing until after 6:30. A great Steak and Chicken Dinner offered by TV's Diner of Trenton almost sold out. The evening featured local country artist Hunter Brooks, who put on an entertaining country rock show. He was followed by Lee Brice, who WYCD is promoting as the next big star. Our Title Sponsor National City Bank performed a business to business giveaway all weekend and almost all of our business tents were sold out. Our Chrysler Foundation Fireworks also rocked the house in Michigan's Second Largest Fireworks display. It was a long day for the organizing committee. The Sunday Race day started bright and early with the Boy Scout breakfast. The Trenton Rotary would like to give a special thank you to Troop 1721's Parents who helped tear down the Million dollar stage after the concerts on Saturday night. Some of them stayed right through to start the breakfast. Talk about service above self. Some of the different types of racing are featured in these pictures.
