Dundee Area Rotary Club - Charter Night Following a year of planning and organizing, 26 energetic and service-oriented individuals from the Dundee area were formally inducted as charter members of the new Dundee Area Rotary Club. According to the chapter’s newly elected president, Rachel Lloyd, “Dundee is growing rapidly, and that growth brings new challenges to the region. The Rotary motto of ‘Service Above Self’ was a compelling call to action. Rotary International offers unique and powerful opportunities for community and world service, fellowship and personal development. We are excited to be part of such a dynamic and respected service organization” Local projects already underway are a holiday Coats for Kids drive, distributing dictionaries to Dundee Schools fourth graders, a major fundraiser for Dundee Good Works!, and sending three Dundee High School students to the annual 3-dayRotary Youth Leadership seminar, to name just a few. Following instrumental and choral music performances by Dundee High School ensembles, Rotary District 6400 Governor Bruce Goldsen presented the Charter and inducted new members on November 5 at a ceremony and banquet held at Dundee’s Old Mill Banquet Hall. Over 100 Rotarians from Monroe and other Rotary Clubs from as far away as Cottam, Ontario also attended to welcome and support the new Dundee Rotarians. Dundee Rotary meets every Thursday at noon at the Old Mill Museum |
