District 6400 - Polio Eradication Fundraiser Crystal Gardens in Southgate hosted a capacity crowd of 340 Rotarians and guests at a very special District 6400 Polio Eradication Fundraiser! The very special guests and keynote speaker was Immediate Past Rotary International President Wilf and June Wilkinson. They drove eight hours from Trenton, Ontario to join fellow Rotarians in this event to raise money that will be joined with other funds from around the world to help match the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation's $200 million contribution to Rotary International's the eradication of Poliomyelitis. This great event featured LOTS of fellowship, many silent auction items, invocation by Grosse Ile President Ted Aller, great food, enthusiastic greetings by DG Bruce and to PRIP Wilf plus presentations by the Essex, Detroit, Lasalle Centennial, Adrian Noon, Adrian Morning Rotary Clubs. The Windsor College Rotaract Club made a significant presentation of $5,000 to the Poliolus Campaign that PRIP Wilf personally accepted. After the 50-50 raffle winners were announced, the live auction of several gifts was conducted by PRIP Mike McCullough. Thanks for the great support from Adrian Morning, Grosse Pointe, Romulus, Taylor, Trenton and Wayne Rotary Clubs. Many Rotarians had leadership roles with this fundraiser that mad it a terrific success. Over $20,000 of new money was raised at this event! |
