Amherstburg Rotary Club - 75th Anniversary On Nov 8th the Rotary Club of Amherstburg celebrated It's 75th Anniversary. It was a night filled with Great fellowship and fun. We opened up this celebration to the local community also. We had the Mayor of Amherstburg and over half of the Town Council in attendance. Past Governor Jim Ives and his wife Diane were there to represent current Governor Bruce and his wife Sue.Our guest Speakers were Bob and MaryJean Gallagher and Fred Sorrell. Club President Michael Vossen presented Bob Gallagher with a check for $1000 for Polio Eradication, which Bob was happy to receive. Not only was this a night to celebrate our 75th, the night was also a Fundraiser for our clubs project, which is the Miracle Field for Disabled Children. The club raised monies from all the local businesses that had donated gifts to be used in the live auction and the Chinese. We also gave out door prizes. All in all it was a great night to just sit around and chat with one another and talked to our guests about how great an organization Rotary really and truly is. I am honored to be the President of our club during our 75th year in Rotary. This club does not act like a club with only 19 members in it. Like I've said many times, tell us we can't do this or that and then just stand back and watch, because we will do anything that will benefit the children in our community, or around the world. It's all about the children!!!!!!! Photographer -Carl Gibb Return to the 2008 - 2009 Photo Gallery Return to the Home Page |
