Taylor Rotary - Fishing Derby 2007 The Taylor Rotary Club held the 19th Annual Fishing Derby on a beautiful Sunday morning at Heritage Park in Taylor, Michigan. This fun family event is part of the week end 2007 Meijer Taylor Summer Festival. Over 102 youngsters brought their parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers along for three hours of fishing. The Junior Division is for children from ages 5 to 8 and the Senior Division is for 9 to 12 years old children. The fish that were caught range in weight between .01 to 3.5 pounds. The City of Taylor Parks and Recreation along with Festival Volunteers and the Taylor Firefighters help out to make this event very successful. These photos show many happy children enjoying the opportunity to fish in a very nice setting. Rotarians donated $600 of new fish, supplied tee shirts - snacks - pop, help set up the fishing places and collected the buckets of fish to be weighed. Other volunteers weighted the fish, tabulated the catch per person and help with the clean up. Sharon Verspremi and President Phil Matous did the honors of recognizing the three winning children in Junior and Senior Divisions. This is a fun family event that all enjoy coming to the Annual Taylor Rotary Fishing Event. Photographer - Jim Karolyi Return to the 2007 - 2008 Photo Gallery |
