Honduras Project 2007 An intrepid team of 12 people (10 Rotarians) traveled to northern Honduras to San Pedro Sula, Cortes. The team was led by Plymouth Tom Kennedy. Four separate projects were accomplished. Plymouth Rotarian Tim Joy was the project leader for the Pompilio Ortega Elementary School Renovation. Rotarians Sue and Dave Mehregan, Traci Sincock, Trey Greene, Kirk Kohn and Jim Karolyi helped with cleaning, preparing and painting five school rooms. Also some helped with the demolition of a room & old bathroom floor, fixed a chronic water leak and paint doors. Another project was supporting a local orphanage in the outskirts of San Pedro Sula The team gave gifts, check for medical problems and celebrated Feliz Navidad. Later Tom Kennedy's family visited them with more gifts from Romulus & Wayne Rotarian Sponsors. Third project was to help install dryers and refrigerators that was donated by Rotarians from District 6600 at the Abrigo Shelter at the Mario Catarino Hospital for relatives of patients who are receiving chronic care. The fourth project was to have Dentist John Kecskes & Marty and Sharon Brooks to help over 350 patients with dental care in a dental clinic sponsored by Rotary Club Valle de Sula. Marty is a dental technician who donated hundreds of artificial teeth for the dental appliances. Lastly Tom, Tim and Jim visited Santa Cruz to check out the next large project of building and furnishing a high school. Santa Cruz is about a one hour drive from San Pedro Sula.
