Area Three - Fellowship Meeting Rotarians from Belleville, Huron Township, Romulus, Wayne and Westland had a most interesting fellowship event. Our ever present District Governor Jennifer Jones attended this event at the Wayne Community Center. Over 80 people were there to enjoy some great Rotary fellowship and food - highlighted entree was City Chicken. There were seasoned and new Rotarians. The youngest Paul Harris Fellow showed up with his own type of bottle. The governor and two PDGs and others at the so-called head table were so hungry that they went first in the food line. Host Wayne Rotary Club President introduced all the so-called dignitaries except one person. ADG Chris Hardy was the organizer and master of ceremonies. DG Jennifer said words of welcome and promotion of the North America Peace Summit. Rotary Club Presidents Brian Oakley, Deborah Greene, Bob Burke and Art Quintal and Past President Margaret Harlow each gave a brief summary of their club activities and events in 2007 - 08. Brian introduced a new event called "Shake and Bake." Ask him for details. Then, as Chris Hardy was about to give his ADG farewell speech, something strange happened. A very loud voice from the back and had the look of a very serious police officer summoned a person named Chris for immediate interrogation! He was charge of impersonating a Rotarian and sending unusual recent text messages. He was given a gold crown for some reason and a party noise maker. DG Jennifer was charge for impersonating a Governor and duly given the same equipment. For some reason, both didn't seem too concerned about the criminal proceedings. The officer told Lois VasStipdonk to watch out or she would get the same treatment. After all that commotion, ADG Chris introduced Lois as the next ADG for Area Three. She spoke of continuing the good works of common Rotary fellowship and projects in their area. Lastly, John VanStipdonk quickly auctioned off some Honduras coffee and cigar. John gave a poster to Chris of photos of some of his recent Rotary adventures. Meeting ended with five winners of donated door prizes. A really great Rotary event that all other areas can copy and enjoy. Return to the 2007 - 2008 Photo Gallery |
