Ankleshwa Project - Carleton Rotary Club

This Rotary Foundation matching originally for supplying computers to the local Ankleshwar School to teach English to the students during the day and adults in the evenings. It was also to supply a reverse osmosis water system for the school. When Guardian Industries Carleton and Guardian Gujarat became involved with the project, the project was expanded to include the purchase of needed hospital equipment and to refurbish the ambulance that Guardian Gujarat donated to the hospital.

The ambulance equipment has been completely updated and installed and the hospital equipment has been purchased and installed. Mary and Pat Kehoe went to the school and took some before installation pictures. The computers and software and the reverse osmosis equipment has all been purchased, but they are waiting for the government to construct a proper computer room and wire same and to build and furnish the room for the reverse osmosis equipment. This will be completed within 30 days. Rotarian Manish Shah will supply us with finished pictures of this portion of the project.

After Mary and Pat Kehoe officially inaugurated the equipment at the hospital, they proceeded to the Ankleshwar Municipal Headquarters where they witnessed Harshad Chokshi, Municipal President of Ankleshwar sign the proclamation of the sister city relationship between the Village of Carleton, Michigan, USA and the Municipality of Ankleshwar, Gujarat, India.

Mary and Pat have many more pictures and we plan on putting a short program at the District Conference in Niagara Falls.

Credit os due to Rotarian Cajetan D'Cunha, who was Carleton's 2006-2007 International chair and was responsible for getting the $7,749.00 donation from Guardian Industries both in Carleton and in Ankleshwar. Until his transfer to Guardian Industries, Kingsburg, California he was the prime mover of this project.
