TAYLOR ROTARY - FISHING DERBY


The Taylor Rotary Club held their 18th Annual Fishing Derby Sunday July 9th at Heritage Park in Taylor, Michigan. Over 90 children between the ages of 5 and 12 along with their families had lots of fun catching and releasing fish from .1 to 4.8 pounds in weight. Over 10 different fish species enjoyed to bait. Thanks to the cooperation of the Taylor Parks and Recreation Employees and Elmer (who comes from Florida for this event) many children had a fun morning. There were just as many girls as boys in attendance. All fisher children had special tee shirts. Taylor Rotary Club donated monies for new fish, purchased and set-up station signs, did the registration, gave out free snacks and drinks, picked up the caught fish, and purchased trophies and prizes for the winners. Club President Jan Szabla congratulated the winning children in the junior and senior categories as well as the child who caught the heaviest fish!
